Background
Fèis Tir a Mhurain is held annually (alternating between Daliburgh and Iochdar schools) and is open to all children and young people from the age of five years who can communicate in Gaelic. The local catchment area is Eriskay, South Uist and Benbecula.  All tuition  is  through Gaelic. Participants outwith this area who want to take advantage of Gaelic medium are very welcome.

Aims
The aim of the Fèis is to present Gaelic in a modern, enjoyable and interesting form so that the youngsters will grow to respect and love the rich tradition of stories, songs, music etc in Uist.

The main participants in the Fèis are children who are receiving Gaelic Medium Education and others in their families. Since Gaelic units have been established in all schools, numbers have steadily risen.

Range
The main subjects offered at the Fèis are Drama, Singing, Keyboard, Accordion,Chanter, Piping, Radio/Video Training, Art.  Depending on suitable tutors being available we also offer Tin whistle, Guitar, Clarsach, Drums, Hebridean Dancing. All teaching is through the medium of Gaelic with an emphasis on material related to South Uist and Benbecula.
